You probably wield more power than you realize. Regardless of your title, you have the power to choose how you react in every situation. You also have the ability to see how others are operating within a given power structure and demonstrate political savvy in navigating what can often be treacherous waters.  Based on a conversation between with Dr. Linda L. Smith, Ed. D at University of Maryland, University College, and Dr. Melanie Cohen of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, this course explores the following questions:

  • What is personal power?
  • How does it come into play in an organization?
  • How can you use it to your advantage?

Power is present in every circumstance…but are you always in the power position?
